Just the Counsel You Need

Sometimes, standard legal packages aren’t the right fit for your needs. They may be too full service when all you need is a one-off item.

Unbundled legal services let you get exactly that. You can assemble your own menu of services that’s perfectly suited to the matters at hand.

For decades, Gevurtz Menashe has been at the forefront of family law and estate planning. This makes us especially well-positioned to assist you with a range of customized legal services.

Unbundled Legal Services vs. Traditional Attorney Representation

Today, it’s more common than ever for clients to represent themselves in their personal legal matters. Because of this, the legal system is taking steps to be more accessible. Unbundled legal services, which are growing in popularity, are a response to this trend.

What Are Unbundled Legal Services?

Unbundled legal services are a limited-scope way to address your legal needs. Your unbundled legal attorney is only hired to attend to specific tasks or issues. You’re then responsible for doing everything else. This approach lets you access (and pay for) a well-defined work engagement. Unbundled legal services provide structure and have a predetermined cost.

Some examples of unbundled legal services include hiring a lawyer to:
  • Provide an initial consultation
  • Periodically give legal advice
  • Do specific legal research and provide you with the results
  • Reviewing or drafting a contract
  • Review or help draft pleadings
  • Review a proposed settlement
  • Provide full representation on one of several specific, isolated issues

What is Traditional Attorney Representation?

Traditional attorney representation, on the other hand, is organized differently. While your lawyer is still hired to handle a certain legal matter, it may be less explicitly defined and the costs can vary. The traditional services model gives you and your attorney greater flexibility to handle complex or dynamic situations. Your lawyer is authorized to speak and act for you in your legal action for a continuous period of time.

Divorce is an ideal example. What your attorney does for your case may not be the same as for other cases. Their activities may include:
  • Communicating with you
  • Advising you on your legal rights and responsibilities
  • Preparing appropriate pleadings
  • Conducting discovery
  • Communicating with the opposing party (or counsel)
  • Analyzing facts as they become known
  • Negotiating on your behalf
  • Appearing and advocating in court for you

Benefits of Unbundled Legal Services

It’s easy to see why unbundled legal services are an attractive option. Because you still have touchpoints with an unbundled legal attorney, unbundled legal services enable you to:
  • Lower the risk of overlooking factors that a trained and experienced lawyer (and judge) would find significant.
  • Access professional legal help that you might not otherwise be able to afford
  • Retain more control so you can manage the case yourself
  • Customize the nature of your legal engagement

Why Choose Gevurtz Menashe?

Testimonial

“From the first consultation, to signing documents, Shawn, Katie, and the team at Gevurtz Menashe were nothing but kind and professional. As I found out on day one, my situation was on the edge of needing to be rushed and the folks at the firm did everything to accommodate me and took care of what needed to happen in a timely fashion. Between being on the ball, while being calm and reassured through the process, I never felt anything but positivity with all of my experiences. Even Kevin, the accounts receivable guy, was awesome to work with!

I’d strongly recommend the team here for any of your legal needs they specialize in. Two thumbs up!”
